About
Right now, Cuba is forced to ration fuel as the United States has imposed an oil blockade on the island. The little fuel remaining is being distributed to keep hospitals functioning, buses running, and schools operating. In the current serious situation, airports can no longer refuel and flightshave been cancelled; universities have closed for one month; and all transport and infrastructure is being severely limited.
This is a man-made situation. People in Cuba are not able to get basic necessities because of the blockade. Despite this, for 66 years, Cuba has continued to provide world-class free healthcare for its population and continued to send thousands of international medical brigades to support countries across the world. Cuba has the highest literacy rate in the world at 100%. For decades, Cuba has been providing support for anti-colonial movements across the world and continues to support countries like Palestine, where it has been providing free education for students from since 1982.
Cuba has given so much to the world – we must return the solidarity.
